Black-owned Porsche dealership opens in Northlake

Mills Automotive Group has opened a Porsche dealership in a new 46,000-square-foot facility in Charlotte’s Northlake area.

Why it matters: According to a company press release, the dealership, located at 10205 Ronald Withrow Blvd, just off Interstate-485 and W. W.T. Harris Boulevard, has one of the largest Porsche service centers in the Carolinas.

The family-owned company is based in Pineville and run by Damian Mills, its CEO. Mills started in the auto industry in 1992 as a salesperson while majoring in business economics at North Carolina A&T State University.

Mills Automotive is among the largest Black-owned dealership groups in the U.S., according to Black Enterprise magazine. The company’s website lists 42 dealerships in the Southeast, including several in the Charlotte area.
