Chema Volleyball Club is preparing for the second edition of the Kenya Cup, aiming to improve upon their previous performance in the inaugural tournament. The competition begins Thursday, January 15, 2026, at the Nyayo Gymnasium.
Kenya Cup Preparation
Chema Volleyball Club exited the group stage in the first edition of the Kenya Cup. Coach Jeremiah Mukopi stated the team has trained well and is focused on advancing to the second round. The team’s ultimate goal is to reach the final.
Team Outlook
Captain Levis Ogutu acknowledged the team’s disappointing performance in the previous Kenya Cup, where they were eliminated at the group stage. They are grouped with Trailblazers Volleyball Club, Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), and Eldowas, teams that previously defeated them. Ogutu expressed confidence in their ability to perform better this time, citing improvements in their systems and strong performances during the first leg of the league and the Eldoret tournament. Chema Volleyball Club has demonstrated their competitiveness in the top tier, winning all their league matches and finishing second at the 2025 Kipchumba Karori International Volleyball Tournament in Eldoret, where they lost to the General Service Unit (GSU) 3-1 in the final.
Group Assignments
Defending champions GSU are in Group A alongside Beast Volleyball Club and Prisons Nairobi. Group C includes Kenya Ports Authority (KPA), Kenya Airport Police Unit (KAPU), Administration Police of Kenya (AP-Kenya), and Bunge Volleyball Club. Kenya Prisons, Equity Bank, Kenya Navy, and the National Youth Service (NYS) are in Group D.
