A LendingTree study examined the prevalence of Black-owned businesses across U.S. metropolitan areas. The study’s findings indicate Fayetteville, North Carolina, currently holds the second position in this ranking.
The LendingTree study, analyzing data through 2022, revealed that 3.3% of all U.S. businesses are Black-owned. This represents a 22.2% increase compared to the prior year.
Fayetteville previously held the top ranking in 2019, with 11.2% of its businesses being Black-owned. Data limitations prevented the city’s inclusion in the 2020 and 2021 rankings. As of 2022, Black-owned businesses constitute 10.1% of Fayetteville’s business market, placing it second nationally.
