Horn of Africa Nations Coordinate Amidst Regional Tensions

The leaders of Ethiopia, Somalia, and Djibouti convened in Djibouti on Wednesday for discussions on regional security, economic integration, and the potential impact of the Middle East conflict. The meeting took place at President Ismail Omar Guelleh’s residence in Haramous, coinciding with an Iftar dinner.

Meeting Participants

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed of Ethiopia was accompanied by a delegation including Deputy Chairman of the Prosperity Party Aden Farah, Finance Minister Ahmed Shide, Minister of Peace Mohammed Edris, National Security Chief Radwan Hussein, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Berhanu Tsegaye, Chief of the Prime Minister’s Special Office Betre Mengistu, and Ambassador Legesse Tulu Adera. Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s delegation included Defence Minister Ahmed Moalim Faqi, Ports Minister Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur, Aviation Minister Mohamed Farah Nur, Public Works Minister Ayoub Ismail Yusuf, and State Minister for Security Mohamed Ali Haga. Djibouti’s attendees were Economy and Finance Minister Ilyas Moussa Dawaleh, Foreign Minister Abdoulkader Houssein Omar, Defence Minister Hassan Omar Mohamed, National Security Chief Hassan Said Kaireh, and Djibouti’s Ambassador to Ethiopia Abdi Mahamoud Aybeh.
