Kenya is aiming to establish Nairobi as a key entry point for African food products into global markets. This initiative is supported by the upcoming launch of Gulfood360 Africa/Kenya, scheduled for May 4-6, 2027.
The event, an expansion of the world’s largest food trade platform, Gulfood, will connect African agricultural producers with international buyers. It was formally announced at Gulfood 2026 in Dubai, designating Kenya as the official African host.
Event Objectives
Organizers anticipate the Nairobi edition will stimulate agricultural development, including value addition, agro-industrialization, and participation from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The platform is intended to facilitate foreign direct investment, secure global contracts, mobilize capital, and integrate cross-border supply chains within the food sector.
Kenya’s Technological Strengths
Kenya’s technological advancements are considered a significant factor in its selection as host. The nation is a leader in Africa for digital payments, logistics technology, supply-chain digitization, and climate-smart agriculture solutions. This is bolstered by a young, technologically proficient population.
Technological Innovations
Innovations like artificial intelligence-powered supply chain management, cold chain tracking systems, and digital marketplaces are improving connections between farmers, processors, and manufacturers with both domestic and international markets.

Trade Cabinet Secretary Lee Kinyanjui stated that the event underscores Kenya’s increasing importance in global trade and investment.
