Kenya Welcomes International Leaders in 2025

Kenya hosted several high-profile international visitors in 2025, elevating the country’s presence on the global stage. These visits included heads of state, royalty, and other prominent figures.
Prince Rahim Aga Khan V
Prince Rahim Aga Khan V, the 50th Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslim Community, visited Kenya from August 26 to August 28, 2025. During his visit, he was awarded the Chief of the Order of the Golden Heart (C.G.H) by President Ruto in recognition of the Aga Khan Network’s work in Kenya. Bilateral discussions between Prince Rahim Aga Khan V and the Kenyan government focused on deepening cooperation between the two entities.
President Nataša Pirc Musar of Slovenia
Slovenian President Nataša Pirc Musar arrived in Kenya on May 31, 2025, and was received by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA). She attended the Mashujaa Day celebrations on June 1 at the Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay County as the chief guest. President Musar also held a bilateral meeting with President Ruto, addressing topics such as economic cooperation, development cooperation, regional peace and security, and climate change financing.
President Alexander Stubb of Finland
Finnish President Alexander Stubb undertook a three-day state visit to Kenya in May 2025, accompanied by his spouse, Suzanne Innes-Stubb. Upon arrival at JKIA, he was received by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki. Stubb held bilateral talks with President Ruto at State House to enhance cooperation between Kenya and Finland. He also laid a wreath at Uhuru Gardens and attended the closing event of the EU-Kenya Business Forum, delivering a keynote speech. Stubb departed Kenya on May 14, with Deputy President Kindiki seeing him off at JKIA.
President Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye of Senegal
President Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye of Senegal visited Kenya on October 19, 2025, and was received by Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. He served as the chief guest at the Mashujaa Day celebrations held at Ithookwe Stadium in Kitui County. President Faye delivered a speech praising the Kenyan heroes who fought for the country’s independence. On October 21, President Ruto hosted President Faye at State House, Nairobi, for a bilateral meeting aimed at strengthening cooperation between Kenya and Senegal, followed by a joint press briefing.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim of Malaysia
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim visited Kenya from November 23 to November 24, 2025. Discussions between Ibrahim and President Ruto focused on deepening relations between Kenya and Malaysia, with particular attention to the Affordable Housing Programme (AHP), the digital economy, and tourism. President Ruto hosted a state banquet in honor of Prime Minister Ibrahim at State House, Nairobi.
Queen Mary of Denmark
Queen Mary of Denmark arrived in Kenya on December 9, 2025, for a three-day state visit. She was received at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Governor Sakaja, and Tourism Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano. During her visit, Queen Mary toured landfill projects focused on waste management, circular economy initiatives, and urban environmental resilience in Nairobi. She also participated in the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) meeting at the United Nations Office in Nairobi.
