Kenyan Njoroge Tops East Africa at Magical Kenya Open

The 57th Magical Kenya Open commenced at Karen Golf Club, with Njoroge Kibugu setting the pace for East African players. Several other golfers also positioned themselves well heading into the second round.
Swedish golfer Niklas Lemke and South African Casey Jarvis emerged as the early leaders after the first round.
East African Player Performances
Njoroge Kibugu of Windsor Golf Hotel and Country Club carded a 4-under 66, the best score among the 18 East African players participating. This performance places him in a strong position to potentially make the cut for the second time in five appearances. His round included six birdies and one bogey on the par-4 eighth.
Absa-Uganda-sponsored Rwandan pro Celestine Nsanzuwera, making his debut in the event, recorded a 1-under 69. Despite four bogies, he managed to birdie holes 6, 7, 10, 11, and 17. Nsanzuwera expressed confidence in his ability to still make the cut, despite acknowledging inconsistencies in his tee shots.
Edwin Mudanyi, a Kenyan golfer playing on his home course, finished at level-par 70, tying for 85th place with 20 other golfers. Other Kenyan players, including Mutah, Kibugu, John Lejrima (amateur), and Jastas Madoya, scored 1-over 71. Jay Singh Sandhu (amateur) and Dismas Indiza are 2-over par.
Samuel Njoroge, David Wakhu, C.J Wangai, Greg Snow, Daniel Nduva, Mohit Mediratta, Mike Kisia, Michael Karanga, Daniel Kiragu, and Nigerian Francis Epe are among those needing to improve their scores to avoid missing the cut, which is projected to be at par or better.
Top of the Leaderboard
Niklas Lemke (Sweden) and Casey Jarvis (South Africa) jointly lead the leaderboard after the first round, each achieving an 8-under 62. David Law (Scotland) and Kiradech Aphibarnrat (Thailand) are closely behind with a score of 63.
Ayora Angel (Spain), Johnston Ryggs (USA), Lindberg Mikael (Sweden), Lagergren Joakim (Sweden), Ricardo Gouveia (Portugal), and Jason Scrivener (Australia) round out the top ten, with scores of 6 and 5-under respectively.
