Nehemiah Housing CEO speaks at International African Diaspora Christian Conference in Jamaica | Community

Llewellyn Graham, Chief Executive of West Midlands based Nehemiah Housing Association, was among the featured speakers at the 2026 African Diaspora Christian Conference held in Montego Bay, Jamaica in May 2026.

The international gathering brought together faith leaders, entrepreneurs, professionals, policymakers, and community changemakers from across Africa and the global Diaspora under the theme: “Building Bridges to Oneness, Prosperity, and Generosity.”

Llewellyn spoke during a key conference segment entitled Impact in Action, a platform designed to showcase “real, working models that are creating tangible impact, moving from ideas to implementation.” Representing Nehemiah Housing Association, Llewellyn Graham shared how the organisation has evolved beyond traditional housing provision to become a catalyst for community empowerment, social impact, and long-term transformation.

Speaking during the session, he highlighted the organisation’s commitment to supporting vulnerable communities through a values-led approach rooted in faith, dignity, and opportunity. “Housing is not just about bricks and mortar,” said Llewellyn.

“It is about creating stable communities, restoring hope, and empowering people to thrive. Our work at Nehemiah Housing demonstrates what can happen when faith, vision, and practical action come together.” His presentation strongly reflected the conference’s wider emphasis on collaboration, innovation, and Kingdom-centred leadership, with delegates encouraged to move “from conversation to action” through sustainable initiatives and partnerships. Nehemiah Housing’s inclusion in the conference programme recognised its growing reputation as an organisation delivering measurable community impact, particularly within underserved and ethnically diverse communities in the UK.

The organisation’s recent support for Jamaica following hurricane devastation was also highlighted during the event. Nehemiah Housing played a role in sponsoring aid shipments and encouraging wider support from businesses, churches, and community organisations to assist affected communities on the island. Hosted in partnership with Operation Save Jamaica and the African Forum on Religion and Government (AFReG), the African Diaspora Christian Conference provided a platform for leaders from the Caribbean, Africa, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, and Latin America to explore solutions across housing, education, business, health, faith, and community development. Conference organisers described the event as more than a conference, calling it “a Diaspora movement” focused on unity, collaboration, and measurable change.

Reflecting on the event, Llewellyn said: “It was an honour to represent Nehemiah Housing on an international platform alongside leaders committed to transforming communities globally. The conference reinforced the importance of partnerships, shared purpose, and practical solutions that create lasting impact.” The conference concluded with calls for continued collaboration across the Diaspora and renewed commitment to initiatives that promote self-determination, sustainable development, and community resilience. Nehemiah Housing Association operates in 6 local authorities in the West Midlands.

With 35 years of operation, Nehemiah Housing has over 1,250 properties throughout the West Midlands and employs over thirty people. The organisation specialises in providing high quality housing and support packages for the Black, Asian, Irish and Minority Ethnic communities in Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton. In doing so, Nehemiah provides quality, affordable housing together with wellbeing services and support to over 4000 single people, couples, families, and the elderly, building successful, sustainable and diverse communities.

The association is also committed to developing innovative programmes, which bring lifelong learning into the community or create sustainable employment and training opportunities that satisfy the needs and aspirations of their tenants.
