Donald Trump visited a Ford factory in Dearborn, Michigan, on Tuesday, January 13. The visit was marked by a confrontation with a factory worker that resulted in Trump making an obscene gesture.
The Incident at the Ford Factory
During his tour of the factory, which manufactures Ford F-150 pickup trucks, a worker yelled “Pedophile protector!!” at Trump. The comment referenced Trump’s involvement in obstructing the release of files related to Jeffrey Epstein. In response, Trump paused, appeared to mouth “F–k you!” and then gave the middle finger toward the worker and the crowd below. He also appeared to mouth “You’re fired” as he walked away.
White House Response and Worker Suspension
White House spokesperson Steven Cheung defended Trump’s reaction, calling it “appropriate” and referring to the worker as a “lunatic.” Ford confirmed that the worker, identified as TJ Sabula, a member of the United Auto Workers Local 600, had been suspended pending an internal review.
Worker’s Reaction and Support
TJ Sabula, in an interview with the Washington Post, stated he had “definitely no regrets” about confronting Trump. He expressed concern about potential political retribution and job security. A GoFundMe campaign was launched in Sabula’s support, raising over $200,000 from approximately 9,000 donors as of Wednesday morning, January 14.
