Ceadach O’Neill, a Northern Ireland underage player, has been named on the bench for Arsenal’s FA Cup match against Wigan Athletic, potentially marking his debut in a Premier League shirt. The 17-year-old is attracting attention as a rising talent.
Ceadach O’Neill is from Kilrea in County Derry. He is the nephew of former Irish League striker Eoin Bradley and grew up playing both association football and Gaelic football, ultimately focusing on the former.
O’Neill began his career with Ballymoney United before being scouted by Linfield. He made two appearances for Linfield’s first team, one in the BetMcLean Cup against Queen’s University and another in the Premiership against Ballymena United, which drew the attention of Arsenal.
O’Neill initially spent time on trial at Arsenal before signing a three-year scholarship deal in the summer of 2024. He subsequently agreed to his first professional contract upon turning 17 in April of the same year.
Southampton and Liverpool were also reportedly interested in O’Neill, with the player undertaking trials at both clubs. However, Arsenal secured his signature.
O’Neill made a notable impact on his debut for Arsenal, scoring twice against West Ham United. He has since been included in first-team training sessions during international breaks and has cited players like Raheem Sterling as inspirations.
O’Neill has represented Northern Ireland at the Under-16, Under-17, and Under-19 levels, and has participated in the Victory Shield.
