Born into one of The Gambia’s highly respected and venerable families with deep Islamic values and public service traditions, Justice Jallow combined strong moral upbringing with academic excellence to build an extraordinary career dedicated to the pursuit of justice.

His early education at Gambia High School laid the foundation for a remarkable academic journey. He later pursued higher education in Tanzania, where he studied law, and continued advanced legal studies and professional development at several prestigious international institutions, equipping himself to become one of Africa’s foremost jurists.

A DISTINGUISHED LEGAL CAREER

Justice Jallow’s professional journey has been marked by exceptional service at every level.

His distinguished appointments include:

  • Attorney General and Minister of Justice of The Gambia
  • Senior Legal Adviser within the United Nations system
  • International Prosecutor of the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR)
  • Internationally respected advocate for international criminal justice and human rights
  • Chief Justice of the Republic of The Gambia
