The New Jersey Devils are trading defenseman Šimon Nemec to the Calgary Flames, league sources told The Athletic’s Pierre LeBrun.
Nemec was the No. 2 pick in the 2022 NHL Draft and played 155 games for the Devils, plus four more in the playoffs.
New Jersey has multiple defensemen under contract beyond this year, including 22-year-old Luke Hughes, who signed a seven-year contract before this season. Nemec finished the 2025-26 season with 26 points in 68 games.
Nemec is currently a restricted free agent after finishing the final year of his entry-level contract.
