Due to financial hardships, his family later relocated to Kibera, one of Nairobi’s largest slums, in search of better economic opportunities.

Growing up in Kibera exposed him to the everyday struggles of urban life, experiences that would later grow his music career.

He attended primary school in both Homa Bay and Nairobi but was unable to pursue further education because of financial constraints.

Before finding success in music, Stivo took on various casual jobs, including construction work, to support himself and his family.

His success in music started in 2019 when his song Vijana Tuwache Mihadarati, which called on young people to avoid drug and substance abuse, gained widespread attention in the entire country.

The song has a unique delivery style, and the setting was in the Kibera slums.

This earned him recognition from government agencies, leading to his appointment as an ambassador for anti-drug campaigns by the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA).

While still living in Kibera, Simple Boy was in a public relationship with content creator Pritty Vishy, which became one of Kenya’s most talked-about relationships before the two parted ways in 2022.
