This milestone marks not only the continued success of Mnyama, but also the strengthening of Sony Music Entertainment Africa’s long-term partnership with one of the country’s most celebrated artists. Released in 2021, Mnyama captured the hearts of audiences through Amanda Black’s powerful storytelling, emotive vocals and fearless exploration of identity, healing and resilience. To commemorate this milestone, Sony Music Entertainment Africa hosted a special in-office celebration in honour of Amanda Black. The intimate event featured the presentation of flowers, a commemorative cake and a special milestone award recognising the album’s remarkable commercial success and lasting cultural impact.
Amanda Black was presented with the following honour: MILESTONE AWARD FOR CATALOGUE IN EXCESS OF 200 MILLION STREAMS. The award recognises the extraordinary achievement of Amanda Black’s catalogue, which has surpassed 200 million streams, underscoring the enduring connection her music continues to have with audiences across South Africa and beyond.
