Castro brings extensive player development experience

Castro most recently served as the Brewers’ senior vice president of player development and performance, where he played an important role in developing the organization’s young talent.
He also brings extensive experience in pitching development, an area that helped him quickly establish himself within the Milwaukee organization.
Castro joined the Brewers in 2019 as a minor league pitching coach and steadily worked his way up the organizational ladder. He eventually became the minor league pitching coordinator before moving into the role of director of pitching development.
His responsibilities continued to grow, ultimately leading to his promotion to vice president of player development and performance.
That progression made Castro an important part of the Brewers’ baseball operations department and their eventual championship success.
Now, he will have an opportunity to take on a major leadership position with an organization hoping to establish itself as a legitimate contender.

Athletics hope to turn things around in 2027

For the Athletics, bringing in Castro represents an important step toward building a more competitive franchise.
The club has struggled near the bottom of the American League standings over the past half-decade and is hoping a fresh approach to player development and roster construction can help change its fortunes.
Castro’s experience with a championship organization could prove valuable as the Athletics attempt to build a sustainable winner.
Having helped Milwaukee reach the pinnacle of the sport, he now faces the challenge of bringing that same winning culture to a franchise desperately searching for success.
The Athletics will be counting on Castro to help guide their baseball operations department as they prepare for the 2027 MLB season.
