Alltech Vocal Scholarship Competition
The 21st Annual Alltech Vocal Scholarship Competition will be held Sunday at the University of Kentucky Singletary Center for the Arts. Singers from across the United States and internationally will compete for more than $700,000 in scholarships and prizes. Participants also have the opportunity to secure a place in the University of Kentucky’s Opera Theatre program. The event begins at 2 p.m. and admission is free.
Black History Month exhibits in Frankfort
Saturday marks the final day to view two Black History Month exhibits in Frankfort.
The Kentucky Military History Museum is hosting “Freedom Fighters: A KMHM Highlights Tour,” which honors more than 20,000 Kentuckians who enlisted in the Union Army to escape slavery. The tour begins at 1 p.m. and is free with museum admission.
At 3 p.m., the Kentucky Historical Society will open “Highlighting Black History in Kentucky.” Organizers state the exhibit will explore the impact Black Kentuckians have made on the state’s history and feature stories of strength, courage, and triumph. This exhibit is also free with admission.
Free concert at Wise Bird Cider Co.
The Other Brothers Band will perform a mix of rock and country music at Wise Bird Cider Co. on Saturday. The event will also feature craft ciders and gourmet food trucks. The show begins at 7 p.m. and is free to attend.
