Grief has a way of showing up in the most ordinary places, in a familiar street, a certain smell, a song on the radio, and that’s exactly the feeling Nashville artist Orion Nyles set out to capture on his new single, “Everywhere I Go,” out August 28.
The track marks Nyles’s formal entry into country music, and he didn’t do it alone. He brought in Brandon Chase, who built a following as a Top 20 contestant on Season 5 of The Voice, to handle the song’s vocal core, while Nyles wrapped the melody in his own rap verses. Adam Curry, known for his guitar work with Brantley Gilbert and Riley Green, rounds out the trio behind the track’s sound. The three built something genuinely hard to categorize: a song that leans into traditional country storytelling one moment and an unmistakably hip-hop groove the next, all in service of a story about a memory that refuses to let go, whether the loss came from death or from the end of a relationship.
The song didn’t start out sounding anything like its final version. Nyles has said the track began as more of a melodic rap before Chase came in and reshaped it, bringing his own vocal instincts and emotional weight to the melody and lyrics. That reworking is a big part of what makes the finished song land the way it does, pairing Chase’s tender, grounded delivery with Nyles’s more vulnerable, conversational verses, so the heaviness of the subject never overwhelms the track’s warmer, more uplifting groove underneath it.
For Nyles, the release carries extra weight beyond the song itself. Country music has always felt like home to him, and stepping into the genre officially with a collaborator like Chase feels like validation for the creative direction he’s been building toward. That direction draws from a wide, occasionally unexpected mix of influences, Prince, Don Henley, Tupac, and Morgan Wallen among them, filtered through a low-register, conversational delivery that trades volume and flash for restraint and precision. It’s an approach shaped by growing up with rap as a formative part of his musical world, later merged with the country storytelling he’s spent his career gravitating back toward.
“Everywhere I Go” runs three minutes and 40 seconds and was written by Nyles and Chase, produced by Nyles under 3rd King Entertainment. A presale and presave event goes live August 14, ahead of the single’s full release on August 28.
