SOLDistro has partnered with Downtown Music Publishing Africa to provide independent artists across the continent with access to professional music publishing administration services, strengthening support beyond music distribution.
The collaboration is centred on supporting independent creators with the expertise, tools and international infrastructure needed to maximise the value of their music rights. Artists distributing through SOL Distro will now have access to publishing administration services that include global royalty collection, copyright registration, income tracking, royalty accounting and neighbouring rights management. The partnership is also intended to help creators unlock additional revenue streams while allowing them to focus on creating music.

“We are excited to work alongside Downtown Music Publishing Africa to offer our artists access to best-in-class publishing services,” said Neo Mkatini, Head of Distro at SOLDistro. “Together, we can help ensure that independent creators not only distribute their music globally but also receive the publishing royalties they have earned.”
Downtown Music Publishing Africa A&R Manager Kefiloe Molefe said the agreement comes as Africa’s independent music sector continues to experience steady growth, increasing the need for trusted partners to help creators manage an evolving music rights landscape.
“As the independent music sector continues to grow across Africa, creators need trusted partners who can help them navigate an increasingly complex rights landscape,” said Molefe. “This partnership with SOLDistro reflects our ongoing passion for supporting independent artists and songwriters by providing world-class publishing services that ensure they are properly represented and paid wherever their music is used around the world.”
Downtown Music Publishing Africa works with songwriters, composers and independent music businesses to administer publishing rights and collect revenue generated from streaming platforms, radio, television broadcasts, live performances, synchronisation licensing and neighbouring rights. The partnership also advances the company’s goal of making music rights management more accessible and transparent for creators at every stage of their careers.
As Africa’s music industry continues to attract growing international attention and investment, both companies believe that strengthening professional rights management will play an important role in supporting long-term growth. The partnership also contributes to wider efforts to build a stronger and more equitable music ecosystem by giving independent creators greater access to the support, resources and global opportunities needed to succeed.
