‘Nengua’ follows the recently released ‘African Child’, a collaboration with South African producer Silvva that seeks to raise awareness about the challenges faced by children across the continent.

The second single off her forthcoming sophomore EP, ‘Nengua’, meaning ‘dance’ in Swahili, aims to rekindle togetherness while celebrating cultural diversity.

“To me ‘Nengua’ is a reminder to loosen up in order to live my best life – to enjoy this thing called life in between chasing goals and dreams,” Liboi said. “By doing so, I get to appreciate who I am, those around me and enjoy the human experience more.”

Sonically, ‘Nengua’ teems with infectious rhythms and breezy melodies melded together with Liboi’s ethereal voice.

The song was mastered by Kenyan producer Modest Chabari while Henry Ngugi and Evans Komora played the guitars. Don Tambo is on bass, Bernard Oduor on the drums and Eric Mwangangi on percussion. Sally Waithera did the backing vocals.

Following her well-received 2022 debut EP State of Being, which explores mental wellness, Liboi’s upcoming project touches on inner power and issues of identity.
