Blumhouse Horror SURPRISE at US box office debut – Designer Women

Horror ‘The Black Phone’, the new film from director Scott Derrickson (‘The Entity’), has surpassed initial projections and surprised the North American box office with a solid opening of $23.3 million.
It should be remembered that analysts expected a start of around 18 million US dollars.
Internationally, the film earned $12.4 million for a world premiere of $35.8 million.
With a low budget of $16 million, “The Black Phone” has everything it needs to become another Blumhouse hit – and perhaps create its own franchise.
