ALLENDALE, MI – Grand Valley State University junior Antonio Green Jr. has watched too many of his Black student peers drop out during the three years he’s been at the university.

Green, 20, of Detroit, said many Black students have left because there aren’t enough resources tailored to supporting students of color at GVSU. The university lacks Black faculty and staff, which can make students feel isolated and question whether they belong at Grand Valley, he said.
