Wolf Pack honors trailblazers during Black History Month > Kunsan Air Base > Display

KUNSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea --  For 48 years, the second month of every year has been allocated to recognize, honor, and celebrate Black History and the contributions African Americans have made to the intricate fabric of the United States of America.

Originally only a week long, President Gerald R. Ford extended the observance to all 28 days of the month in 1976, calling upon the American public to “seize the opportunity to honor the too-often neglected accomplishments of Black Americans in every area of endeavor throughout our history.”
