Affordable housing still a major milestone for most African nations

In his second term, Kenyan president Uhuru Kenyatta has pledged to promote an affordable housing scheme to help ordinary citizens acquire homes. This means that low income households can now afford themselves a mortgage at good rates. The project which entails the construction of about half a million new homes calls for massive investments. Such investments cannot be carried by government alone hence the government has called on the private sector for assistance to ensure they meet the 2022 deadline.
